Feedback from Public Meeting - 3rd Nov 2009

A total of 110 people attended the public meeting on the 3rd Nov 09 - a fantastic turnout considering the weather and the leaflet distribution issues we had in the 2 weeks leading up to the event.

There were really good thoughts on what could be achieved - see adjacent table.

The vast majority of people had no strong interest in a particular matter but they DID want to get really involved in helping on the farm. This is really good because without a real willingness to work on the farm the project will not succeed.

Equally encouraging were the high number of people interested in helping with the administration / running of the project. As everyone involved in running a farm knows, paperwork is an unavoidable necessity if things are to be run appropriately and well.

Skills and Expertise

Amongst the 110 at the meeting there were people with really good skills and expertise in farms and food production related matters.

People in the following areas have offered their help in the setting up and running of the community farm and local food project:

  • Soil analysis
  • Organic farming
  • Arable and livestock farming
  • Business planning
  • Financial administration
  • Business administration
  • Event management
  • ICT
  • Contract management
  • Project management
  • Media coordination and public relations

All these people are really welcome. There are many people already interested in making the farm work, all with really relevant skills and experience. The greater the skill pool we have to pull on the greater our chances of making a real success of the farm.

Please register any skills, experience and time you have to offer.

More of the above skills wanted and others. All offers will be really appreciated.
