Community Liaison Subgroup

Vision Statement

for

Community Liaison

From the beginning ensure that the local community understand what we are doing, why we are doing it and how it can benefit them and work towards involving all members of the community through buying produce, helping on the farm, education/workshops or social activities.

We recognise how important it is to establish a good relationship with the local community including residents, schools and businesses.

Will we do this by:

  • Keeping the community informed
  • Avoiding conflict by addressing any concerns / issues as soon as possible both those in the community and within our farm groups
  • Ensuring website is up to date with news & progress
  • Producing regular newsletters available to both our members & the wider community
  • Making good use of notice boards in schools, villages
  • Ensure all groups are included not just those that can pay to sponsor or buy a share in livestock or crops

We will endeavour to keep the project in the news with

  • Press releases,
  • Local TV, Radio and Magazine articles
  • A regular column (blog) in local paper

We would like to keep a video diary to record our achievements, highs and lows and any social events. Copies could be used to generate funds.

A good web presence

We need to be found and to do that we need to:

  • Ensure that we are listed by search engines
  • Good links into our website
  • Establish a network with other similar and local food projects
  • Get listed on organic / local food websites

Raising our Profile

Having a presence/exhibition at Broadclyst Fun Day, Devon County Show and National Trust events or a one day exhibition at venues such as Garden Centres to inform the public about us

As we become 'experts' we can advise / help set up other groups.

We also think it is very, very important that we enjoy ourselves! So we will organise social events such as:

  • Barn dances
  • Days out / visits to other similar projects
  • Planting events
